Meet Our Friends

Proboscis Monkey

You might think that their long noses look funny but in truth, it gets them the ladies! These adorable primates can only be found here on the island of Borneo! They are also the best swimmers in the primate world – they can swim up to 30 minutes straight without resting!

02.

Long-tailed Macaque

Do you like crabs? If so, you have one thing in common with long-tailed macaques AKA crab-eating macaques. Grooming is common among these primates. The ones with higher status would get more grooming (and of course, attention from the ladies).

Silvered Leaf Monkey

Silvered leaf monkeys can be found in Borneo, Sumatra, West Malaysia, and its nearby islands. While other primates munch on fruits, these silvery monkeys prefer eating leaves. Interestingly, their babies are born with orange-coloured fur.

Otter

Otters are playful animals! They would slide down the river, play with stones, and even engage in a friendly wrestling bout. They are social in nature. They also have very thick fur - about 1,000 times denser than human hair!

05.

Fireflies

Fireflies are beetles (nope, they’re not flies) that emit light from their body via a process called bioluminescence. They use their light patterns as their language of love. Those flashes you see are usually emitted from males who are looking for females.

Kingfisher

If you’re an introvert, you’d probably like this bird. Due to their shy and quiet nature, these solitary birds are only seen flying within their respective territories. These birds are associated with various symbolisms, among which include freedom, courage, adventure, and balance.

Saltwater Crocodile

The saltwater crocodile is the largest reptile in the world! It can grow up to 17 feet long and weigh up to 1,000 pounds! If you’re lucky (or rather, unlucky), these bad boys can even grow up to 23 feet and over 2200 pounds. One more thing, they sleep with one eye open!

Egret

Egrets are wading birds that can be found in saltwater and freshwater. You’d spot them from afar with their snowy white feathers and long legs. Interestingly, some cultures believe that these birds are God’s messengers. They are also symbolic of strength and freedom.

Monitor Lizard

Monitor lizards are the Einsteins of the reptile world. They are considered the most intelligent reptiles in the world! Researchers have found that some of these lizards can even count up to six. They also have excellent vision and they don’t blink.

Owl

Although owls can’t move their eyeballs around like humans can, they can rotate their heads 270 degrees to give them a better view of their surroundings. On top of that, these nocturnal birds have incredible hearing.

11.

Eagles

An eagle’s eyesight is around 5 times better than the average human’s vision! Their humongous eyes take up almost 50% of their head and can weigh the same amount as a human eye. They can see up to 3 kilometres away! They are apex predators as they sit on top of their food chain.

Mangroves are tropical trees that grow in coastal saltwater zones in tropical and subtropical latitudes.

They make our ecosystem more resilient and they help protect the earth’s natural resources, which in turn improves human sustenance and planetary health.

Vital for habitat 

Mangroves serve as habitats for thousands of species. They protect various terrestrial, estuarine, and marine species – from those adorable mudskippers to the colourful birds flying in the air.

Protection from global warming 

They protect the earth from global warming by pulling massive amounts of greenhouse gases from the atmosphere and storing them in their soils — up to four times as much carbon as other tropical forests.

Provide livelihoods for communities 

They provide economic opportunities for coastal communities through fisheries and ecotourism.

They are survivors 

Mangroves develop special features to survive. Their handy root system gives them stability in soft mud.

Arrive at JSK Rampayan Jetty, Kota Belud and enjoy breakfast.

09:45 AM
Boat boarding, Hop on a speedboat to JSK Mantanani Island Resorts. Your journey will take approximately 30-45 minutes (subject to sea conditions).

10:15 AM
Arrive at the Resort. Guests to prepare for snorkelling. Welcome drinks will be served.
*There are two snorkelling points. Each point takes 20-30 minutes and is subject to weather conditions.

Boat boarding for sea turtle viewing (subject to season) before beginning their first snorkelling session.

The second snorkelling session guests will head to Coral Island and Dragon’s Tail thereafter.
